BECAUSE OF POWER LINE EXISTENCE NEAR EACH HOME, INDEPENDENT COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK, AND DISUSE OF EXTRA CABLING, POWER LINE COMMUNICATION IS PROPER CHANNEL FOR DATA TRANSMISSION. BECAUSE OF NOISE AND ENVIRONMENTAL DISTORTION, UTILIZATION OF RESISTANCE TECHNOLOGY AGAINST THESE EFFECTS IS REQUIRED, SO THAT THE USE OF SPREAD SPECTRUM TECHNOLOGY OR ERROR CORRECTION TECHNIQUES IS REQUIRED.SIMULATIONS AND INSPECTION SHOWS, SPREAD SPECTRUM TECHNIQUES, BECAUSE OF ITS RESISTANCE AGAINST MULTIPATH, NOISE AND JAMMING, IS MORE PROPER THAN NARROW BAND TECHNIQUES, BUT IT IS EXPENSIVE AND COMPLICATED.

Automatic Meter Reading (AMR) is the remote collection of consumption data from customer’s utility meters over telecommunications, radio, POWER LINE and other links. AMR provides water, electric and gas utility − service companies the opportunities to streamLINE metering, billing and collection activities, increase operational efficiency and improve customer service. Utility company uses technologies that were developed several decades ago with the majority of the meters being read visually. With manual readings, considerable time is used to physically check out each unit. AMR becomes a viable option to overcome this problem of time wastage to obtain the meter readings. There are many different forms of communication links that can be utilized as the communication medium in an AMR system. One such link is the POWER LINE carrier or PLC. The advantages of using the PLC as the communication medium are readily apparent since the POWER LINE NETWORK is the property of the utility company and its infrastructure is already there. However, POWER LINEs are never meant for communication and creates much noise and therefore, various modifications has to be made to make the PLC suitable to be the AMR communication channel. The AMR system consists of three major components: the meter interface module, communications system, and data concentrator. This paper details a feasibility study on the creation of a robust bi-directional/two-way communication system between an electricity meter and a distant control unit (data concentrator) over the low voltage (LV) distribution grid. Basic functions of the AMR system include the provision for remote connection and disconnection of meter and fraud detection features at both the meter interface and the data concentrator. As a support system to the entire AMR, batteries are utilized. They are especially important in the cases of POWER failures. Lithium-ion batteries are the type of batteries that are used as these batteries tend to last longer than most other batteries. The main advantage of this system is that it is a low cost system that produces very encouraging results and it can be implemented upon existing electro-mechanical meters without the need of purchasing new meters. With many existing meters being the electromechanical meters, the need for a high-cost, large-scale implementation of new electronic device meters to enable implementation of the AMR system is unnecessary. The cost of implementation is low and the benefits, especially economically, that it brings to the utility company are immense.

In this paper, a novel risk-based, two-objective (technical and economical) optimal reactive POWER dispatch method in a wind-integrated POWER system is proposed which is more consistent with operational criteria.  The technical objective includes the minimization of the new voltage instability risk index. The economical objective includes cost minimization of reactive POWER generation and active POWER loss. The proposed voltage instability risk employs a hybrid possibilistic (Delphi-Fuzzy)-probabilistic approach that takes into consideration the operator’s experience, the wind speed and demand forecast uncertainties when quantifying the risk index. The decision variables are the reactive POWER resources of the system. To solve the problem, the modified multi-objective particle swarm optimization algorithm with sine and cosine acceleration coefficients is utilized. The method is implemented on the modified IEEE 30-bus system. The proposed method is compared with those in the previously published literature, and the results confirm that the proposed risk index is better at estimating the voltage instability risk of the system, especially in cases with severe impact and low probability. In addition, according to the simulation results compared to typical security-based planning, the proposed risk-based planning may increase the security and economy of the system due to better utilization of system resources.

یکی از مهمترین پدیده های دینامیکی سیستم قدرت که در محدوده زمانی یک تا چند ثانیه اتفاق می افتد و عموما به عملکرد اشتباه رله های حفاظتی منجر می شود، نوسان توان است. این پدیده با وقوع خطایی در سیستم قدرت و نوسانی شدن متغیرهای ولتاژ و جریان اتفاق می افتد. در این حالت امپدانس دیده شده توسط رله های دیستانس موجود در شبکه نوسانی شده و ممکن است وارد یکی از نواحی عملکرد حفاظتی رله ها شود و در نهایت خطوطی که خطا روی آنها اتفاق نیفتاده ناخواسته قطع شوند. در این پروژه سعی می شود رفتار رله های دیستانس در شرایط نوسان توان، مورد بررسی قرار گرفته و ضمن اشاره به روشهای مختلف مقابله با اشتباه رله ها، الگوریتم تعیین بهترین روش برای پربار کردن خطوط و تنظیم رله های دیستانس شبکه انتقال 230 و 400 کیلووات برق منطقه ای فارس نوشته شده و نتایج شبیه سازی های انجام شده ارایه گردد.

Flashover of POWER transmission LINEs due to polluted insulators is a major problem in coastal and industrial areas. This paper deals with the analysis of leakage current characteristics of POWER transmission LINE insulator in order to develop a better diagnostic tool to identify the surface condition of insulators. In this work, laboratory based pollution performance experiments are carried out on porcelain insulator under AC voltage at different pollution levels and relative humidity conditions with sodium chloride as a contaminant. The leakage current signals are analyzed using Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) technique and the important features are extracted from the Multi Resolution Signal Decomposition (MRSD) Analysis. The process of identification of surface condition of the insulation structure was automated using Artificial Neural NETWORK (ANN) with Back Propagation Training Algorithm. Reported results shows that the surface condition of outdoor insulators could be identified using this proposed approach.

UNIFIED POWER FLOW CONTROLLER (UPFC), AS A INDICATIVE OF THE THIRD GENERATION OF FACTS DEVICES, IS BY FAR THE MOST ENCYCLOPAEDIC FACTS DEVICE, IN POWER SYSTEM STEADY-STATE IT CAN ACCOMPLISHMENT POWER FLOW REGULATION, REASONABLY CONTROLLING LINE ACTIVE POWER AND REACTIVE POWER, IMPROVING THE TRANSMISSION CAPACITY OF POWER SYSTEM, AND IN POWER SYSTEM TRANSIENT STATE IT CAN REALIZE FAST-ACTING REACTIVE POWER RESTITUTION, DYNAMICALLY SUPPORTING THE VOLTAGE AT THE ACCESS POINT AND IMPROVING SYSTEM VOLTAGE STABILITY, MOREOVER, IT CAN IMPROVE THE DAMPING OF THE SYSTEM AND POWER ANGLE STABILITY. THE PRESENT PAPER SHOWS HOW THE UPFC INCREASES THE TRANSMISSION CAPACITY AND REDUCE THE POWER AGGLOMERATION IN THE TRANSMISSION LINE. TO STUDY THE PERFORMANCE OF THE USE OF THE UPFC ON AN EXISTING TRANSMISSION LINE, THE SIMULATION CARRIED OUT USING MATLAB-SIMULINK ENVIRONMENT.
